FC Cincinnati Commemorates Juneteenth 2023

FC Cincinnati commemorated Juneteenth on Saturday, June 18, 2023, with a variety of events and activities. The club hosted a free festival at West End Stadium, which featured live music, food, and games. The festival also included a panel discussion on the history and significance of Juneteenth. In addition, FC Cincinnati players and staff participated in a march and rally in support of racial justice.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the end of slavery. It is celebrated on June 19, which marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed that they were free. Juneteenth is a time to reflect on the legacy of slavery and to celebrate the progress that has been made in the fight for racial equality.

FC Cincinnati's commemoration of Juneteenth was part of the club's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The club has a number of initiatives in place to promote racial justice, including a partnership with the National Urban League and a scholarship program for African American students.

Quote from the article:

"Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom and equality," said FC Cincinnati President and General Manager Chris Berding. "It is also a day to reflect on the work that still needs to be done to create a more just and equitable society. FC Cincinnati is committed to using our platform to promote racial justice and to create a more inclusive environment for all."
